HBO’s The Lady and the Dale is a documentary series that follows the rise and fall of a three-wheeled car with a strange name and its notorious creator – Liz Carmichael. As a transgender woman going up against the big three car companies in the 70’s, the road of Liz’s journey is a winding one, with genius, fraud, and felonies at every turn.

HBO wanted an event to celebrate the series finale. An event during a pandemic…So we created a COVID-safe drive-thru experience that transformed a car wash into a 70’s themed money laundering scheme. Liz would have been proud.

While waiting in line for the car wash, attendees could scan a QR code to launch an Instagram Lens that let them put their face on a nefarious piece of corporate ID.

Photo moments

Two photo moments from Liz’s life helped attendees better understand her story. In addition to being great photo ops, they gave a sneak peek at the documentary, from Liz’s evasion of the FBI to the eventual murder in her corporate office.

SOUNDS LIKE A STEAL
